Generic Accutane (Isotretinoin, Accutane® equivalent)

Isotretinoin is a form of vitamin A. It decreases the amount of sebum (oil) that is released by the sebaceous (oil) glands, and it increases that rate at which the skin renews itself. Isotretinoin is used to treat severe nodular acne that has not responded to other treatments, including antibiotics.

HAIR: CARE, HYGIENE AND MORE

Hair grows from follicles, growing to its full length in about eight weeks. Then comes a resting period for the follicles. Many tests related to shaving have shown that shaving hair does not affect it except to cut it off.
The hair growth is not increased by applying oils or alcohol or quinine or other stimulants. Ultraviolet will not produce any increase in the growth of hair, nor will tanning; neither will they stop the growth of hair, unless carried to excess sufficient to destroy cells. X-ray will cause the hair to fall out, and X-ray can burn the underlying skin.
Baldness Alopecia is the scientific term for baldness. Most baldness is hereditary, not only the baldness but actually the pattern of the baldness. Thus far a cure for baldness has not been discovered. Apparently, growth of hair is affected by hormones, but exactly how to control this is not known.
Care of the Hair Rapid falling of the hair may follow sickness. This is temporary, and the hair will grow out again in a few months. Cutting the hair shorter or shaving the head will not make it grow faster. Apparently, the use of a stiff brush and occasional massage of the scalp with the fingers is helpful to some people, particularly if carried on in a routine and regular manner.
Hygiene of the Hair The hair should be washed often enough to keep it clean. For most hair any ordinarily good soap will do, but special shampoos are available. Experts say the use of an egg in the shampoo does not help, any more than throwing an egg into an electric fan. After the hair has been washed with soap and water, it should be rinsed thoroughly, so that the excess soap is removed, and dried rather slowly without too much heat.
Nothing is gained by singeing the hair, except to make a bad smell and to improve the finances of the barber.
Gray hair appears to come with age to most people. Attempts have been made to relate the grayness of hair to hormones, but thus far consistent results have not been secured.
Superfluous Hair The scientific name for superfluous hair is hypertricosis, meaning excessive hair. Men ordinarily have hair on their chests and around the sex organs and on the face. Excessive hair on the breasts of women or on their faces gives them anguish. Such excess growth is apparently related to glandular activities but thus far does not seem to be consistently controllable. Studies are being made in the use of estrogenic hormones taken internally and applied locally, and in some cases there seemed to be success. In women, excess growth of hair is more likely to occur after the menopause. The certain method for the removal of excess hair is the use of the electric needle. Use of the X-ray for this purpose is dangerous.
