Generic Lipitor (Atorvastatin, Lipitor® equivalent)
Lipitor is a prescription medication used along with an overall diet plan in order to lower the patient's level of cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attack. It has been proven to help reduce patients' LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels significantly, as well as help in maintaining the low levels in the long term. Lipitor belongs to a class of medications known as statins, which work by blocking an enzyme in the liver that is used in the production of LDL ("bad") cholesterol. The body then produces less LDL, and the level of LDL cholesterol in the blood decreases.

Drug Medical Information
PERITONITIS
The peritoneum is the name of the membrane that lines the abdominal cavity. It may push through the wall of the abdomen, in the case of a rupture. Cysts occur in folds of the peritoneum. Part of the peritoneum is called the mesentery and cysts in the mesentery are called mesenteric cysts.
Most serious of the conditions that affect the peritoneum is peritonitis. The tissue becomes infected and inflamed, particularly after injuries to the abdomen, rupture of appendix, or abscess in the appendix. Occasionally the peritoneum becomes infected from an ulcer of the stomach or duodenum, from an infection in the gall bladder or, in fact, from infection in almost any abdominal organ. Absorption of the toxic materials threatens life. Signs of peritonitis include fever, rigidity of the abdominal wall, and tenderness when the wall is touched. When there is severe abdominal pain, accompanied by tenderness of the whole abdominal wall, vomiting and fever, the doctor suspects peritonitis. In some instances, surgical operation may be necessary.
Since the germs that affect the peritoneum are usually the types that yield to sulfa drugs and penicillin, the record of peritonitis has become much less alarming since these drugs have come into use.
